Bart Koelmans


Prof. Dr. A.A. (Bart) Koelmans (1962) is a professor in Water and Sediment Quality (see: inaugural lecture, in Dutch) at Wageningen University and is also affiliated with the Marine Institute for Ecosystem Studies (IMARES). He lectures Water Quality, Aquatic Chemistry and Marine Environmental Quality. His area of interest covers all general issues related to water and sediment quality. Specific focus is on fate and affects of heavy metals and organic contaminants in water and sediment, (fresh water, coastal zones and marine waters), bioavailability, eco(toxico)logical risk analysis and – reduction, remediatiation of contaminated sediments, sediment management and implications for water quality.
